One of the biggest benefits of embracing lean thinking is to identify the waste in the process and eliminate or minimize the waste so that we can flow the value to customer in a better, cheaper, faster way. Some of the most frequently used lean techniques are "Mapping". Lean Mapping Techniques are team based, highly interactive way of visualising, mapping & surfacing out the waste in any process, be it manufacturing process or be it service process (such as office, HR, Finance etc). The beauty is that, these mapping techniques help us surface out the hidden process wastes or invisible process wastes, especially in an increasingly digital world where process are in electronic format. The "Lean Mapping Techniques" Workshop is designed to equip necessary skills on Various Lean Mapping Techniques in a highly interactive, hands on way to the participants so that participants can apply these techniques effectively in their workplace.
Objective
- Learning to visualize the process wastes in visible and hidden process scenario
- How to identify and differentiate value & waste using mapping activities
- How to develop current state, future state and ideal state for each mapping activiites
- How to inter-relate all the mapping tools & drive a team based solution in reducing the waste in the process
- How to simplify various forms used in daily activities, be it physical forms, be it electronic froms
- Best practices using case studies on successful application of mapping in real world
Outline
- Overview of Basics of Lean Thinking Framework
- Overview of various Lean Tools & Techniques / why use them / when to use them
- Difference between Conventional flow charts vs Lean mapping tools
- Introduction of Value Stream Mapping with hands on exercise
- Introduction of Business Process Mapping (Swimlane) with hands on exercise
o Tips & Techniques in identifying and eliminating the wastes - Introduction of Workflow Diagram (Sphagetti) with hands on exercise
o Tips & Techniques of using WFD in various scenarios on visible as well as invisible process - Typical success metrics (KPIs) used in Lean Mapping activities and connecting these to Strategic metrics
- How to facilitate Group Mapping activities in your respective orgnizations
Who should attend
- Section managers / Department managers who want to simplify their existing complex or legacy process using lean tools & techniques
- Supervisors / Engineers, who want to simplify / improve their established process so as to improve their process time / turn around time
- Lean practitioners who want to further enhance their skills on "real world" mapping techniques so that they can coach their respective teams better
