As an employee or member of any organisation, we may sometimes be required to plan and manage events for specific purposes like a farewell for a CEO or welcome event for new employees, a conference or exhibition for trade purposes, a dinner and dance or family day. When we are faced with such challenges, many of us may lack the skills and knowledge to effectively plan coordinate and implement such events. Whether you are a manager tasked to organise the event or a members of a sub-committee, this programme will provide useful tips on how to plan, co-ordinate and execute events successfully.

- The strategic picture in planning events, bearing in mind organisational needs
- Achieving corporate communications goals through events
- How to formulate and convey the key messages through the event
- Transforming the key messages into a creative concept
- Steps in formulating an event plan ie tasks and responsibilities
- Designing a plan schedule, ie Gantt chart and ‘to do’ lists
- How to work with groups to plan and execute events
- How to plan for contingencies and manage problems on the ground
- How to present your plan for approval and follow up
- How to use checklists and schedules to manage events
- Evaluating events when they are completed
Who should attend
Those who are required to plan or assist in internal and external events. Those who may participate in local and international events on behalf of their organisation. Those who wish to learn how to plan and execute events successfully
Methodology
Participants will learn event management and planning through group work. They will be guided on how to plan and present concepts , co-ordinate actions and work with other teams for successful management of an event.. Case studies of successful events as well as failures will be discussed for learning purposes. They will also learn to use checklists for planning concept, publicity, logistics, F&B, security and first aid and all aspects of event management.
