Profile of Aileen Koh

Aileen Koh has over 24 years of legal, privacy, trademark experience and 15 years of business commercial experience. She is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. She is also a Barrister-At-Law (of Middle Temple, United Kingdom). She studied law at the University of London and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. She had practised intellectual property law in Drew & Napier with a global portfolio of MNC clients. She practised corporate commercial, real estate, wills, trusts and succession law in a boutique law firm. She has been Vice President of Legal and Administration in a Group of Companies with 68 entities worldwide, Legal Director of a high end private social club, and Head of Legal for a venture-capital backed technology company.
Aileen has been certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Asia (CIPP/A). She previously served on the Singapore Attorney General’s Legal Sub-Committee for the National Internet Advisory on Personal Data Protection. She chaired the Ethics Committee for the Singapore Real Estate Association. As a former law lecturer and a registered instructor with the Ministry of Education, she has demonstrated her expertise in teaching and mentoring. She has been providing personal data protection, privacy and cybersecurity legal advice and support to companies and MNCs. She provides privacy impact assessments (PIA) to help MNCs identify the privacy, business, commercial and operational risks, and provides comprehensive risk mitigation solutions in PIA reports. She assists MNC’s internal legal, privacy, compliance and IT teams to investigate potential and actual personal data breaches and leaks, and to assess whether regulatory thresholds have been triggered to necessitate reports to privacy regulators in Asia Pacific. She helps companies understand and comply with the personal data protection, privacy and cybersecurity laws in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and other countries in Asia Pacific. Aileen’s extensive experience includes providing advisories on Asia-Pacific and European Union personal data protection laws, privacy risk impact assessments (PIAs), risk mitigation, compliance, intellectual property, corporate commercial and real estate contracts. She has served as a Regional Data Protection Officer (DPO) for multiple organizations, providing strategic advisory services on APAC privacy laws and EU GDPR compliance.
With a proven track record of reviewing over 100 global PIAs across 30+ countries, Aileen delivers comprehensive risk mitigation solutions through detailed PIA completion reports. She has managed investigations into personal data breaches across 17 APAC countries, preventing incidents and ensuring compliance by implementing data protection management programs (DPMPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices.
She was a Singapore Ministry of Education Registered Instructor and has facilitated workshops on Cyber Wellness, Discerning Online Content, How to Respond to Bullying Successfully all levels of Primary and Secondary Schools. She is trained in the DISC and Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis. She has facilitated seminars for adults, in-house training and corporate training courses for many business and privacy law topics such as tenancy agreements, sales and purchase agreements, employment contracts, privacy policies, privacy statements, procurement contracts, legal and practical aspects of requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for tenders (RFTs) and the Conditions of Contract. She drafts wills, testamentary and standby trusts for testators and individuals. She also provides corporate training and facilitates workshops for DISC and Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis and Strengths Finder.
