    The Future of Excellence in the Digital Age
    Be Future-Ready for the New Organisational Realities of Innovation, Agility, Human-Focused Design and Customer Centricity

    Which Era are you operating in? We are already well into the Digital Age yet most organisations are still operating under a set of management practices and leadership behaviours that were largely developed back in the Industrial Age. Technology, competitive landscapes, global social patterns, environmental realities, employee preferences and customer habits have changed dramatically over the past few decades, but the management approaches we use to run our organisations have not nearly kept up adequately. We are living in a VUCA world where Volatility is frequent, Uncertainty is the norm, Complexity is part of everyday life and Ambiguity is rampant. But how to face and overcome these new realities?

    Industry 4.0 and the new Social-Economic-Environmental realities demand strategic coherence, constant change, dynamic agility, organisational flexibility, co-creation and a hyper-engaged workforce deeply focused on continual innovation. This requires modern, flexible and inclusive management concepts in order to fully leverage changing geo-economic realities, public-private-people relationships, sustainability challenges, organisational dynamics, customer demands, employee expectations, technologies and business models. In this course we will explore all of these topics and more.

    Objective
    This aim of this course is to understand what organisations and people need to be successful in the new realities of the Digital Age. It is designed for professionals of all levels to understand the organisational challenges of the Digital Age, both present and future, so that they can take proactive steps to upgrade and transform both their organisations as well as themselves as individuals. Participants will be taken through all the key elements of Digital Age Practices and thoroughly compare them to the older (yet still commonplace) Industrial Age Practices, providing a clear comparison between the two approaches. Exercises and examples will be applied to reinforce critical concepts. By the end of the course, participants will have a broad understanding of: 1) the challenges facing modern organisations, 2) the essential Digital Age Practices vital to be successful, 3) their own gaps in terms of new practices versus old, outdated approaches.

    Characteristics of the Future of Excellence, Digital-Age Practices
    Point-by-point explanation of the key characteristics of the Digital Age, each accompanied by a comparison with its Industrial Age counterpart and a review of their pitfalls. Examples and Exercises will be applied to reinforce the critical concepts behind each Characteristic. Open discussions in small teams will be facilitated in order to share views, perspectives and experiences.

    The Role of People in the Digital Age Enterprise
    Organisations are ultimately made of people, not just processes and machines. What will your role be in this new world of co-creation, team collaboration, self-development and front-line innovation? We will discuss some of the new skills, competencies, behaviours and attitudes that are essential for people at all levels to survive and thrive in the Digital Age.

    Gap Assessment and Conclusion
    A Self-Assessment will be provided so that participants can self-rate their current realities in terms of Industrial Age practices versus Digital Age practices. Results will be shared in a small team format for a frank and deep discussion on organisational habits to reinforce versus ones that need changing or even transforming. Methods for continuous follow-up and learning will be recommended, including further coursework, reading, and other developmental ways. As a concluding segment, Key Points for the Digital Age Journey will be presented for final thoughts.
