We all love listening to great stories and are excited by them. We’re actually wired to think in stories. Note that when we’re chatting with friends and relatives, we use a story form. Not a list, numbers or slides, but a story. And research shows something fascinating: when we hear a compelling story, we switch off our judgment and criticism.

It's different for facts and numbers. When we hear them, we start evaluating them. The left side of our brain, the one responsible for judgment, becomes very active.

When we hear a story, our brain activates the right side, the part of the brain that is responsible for experience. We start imagining scenes, engaging our different senses and co-creating the story. We are far more likely to consider different viewpoints with a story because it puts us into a more receptive state of mind. We are more open, and we set aside our limiting beliefs, values and opinions.

Ultimately, we become so emotionally engaged with a great story that we’re more motivated to change our thinking or behaviour.

As a well-told story is so powerful, it can be an invaluable tool in a business setting too. It can help you connect with clients and prospects on a deeper level, get them to trust you and buy from you. It can help you engage and motivate your team members towards a common goal. It can help you influence key decision makers in your organization to get buy-in for your vision and ideas.

But how can you get started with telling compelling stories?

This workshop was designed to help you with that. It’ll guide you step-by-step through the process of brainstorming your best stories, crafting them and delivering in the most effective way. It’ll give you a chance to practice your stories and receive feedback on them before you bring them to a workplace.
